A few weeks ago I visited my first ever sewing festival and it was quite an experience, so many sewing businesses under one roof.
A quick picture from the balcony of the Design Centre in Islington where the Stitch Festival is held.
The event is held from Thursday to Sunday at the Design Centre Islington which is just a few minutes walk from Angel train station so it's really easy to get too. I was there from the Wednesday to Friday.
A very busy but exciting few days.
I was lucky enough to attend as I was giving a helping hand to my friend Emma from Studio 7T7, we set up on the Wednesday ready for the first day on Thursday. What can I say about the opening day other than wow wow and wow again, it was so busy we barely got 5 minutes all day but it was great to see Emma's stand so popular and bustling. Friday was a bit more of a steady pace, so if you are thinking of attending next years event and don't like crowds I would avoid opening day, However the Thursday was late night shopping and did get quieter after tea time.
So many amazing small UK businesses under one roof.
We got the chance to have a quick wonder round on the Friday, but I was very reserved in my purchases mainly because I knew I had to get them back on the train to Durham that night ha ha!
My favourite stands were
Emporia Sewing Patterns where I bought the new Zoe dress pattern I am not a dressmaker but have decided 2024 is the year to try get back into it.
Pincushion Pantiles and Yarnsulike who were our stand neighbours and so much fun.
Sweet Pea Embroidery - amazing embroidery company I had a lovely chat with Alison the Owner about my fear of my Brother V3. I got a few rolls of vinyl from there fantastic selection as well as some fantastic advice.
The Quilted Bear - I was so excited to see the huge selection of rulers I have been looking for a specific ruler for ages and I found the perfect here.
I am so looking forward to next years event and have my eye on some other sewing events later this year ti attend. If you know of any good events let me know and I might see you there.
Until next time happy sewing and may your bobbin always be full
Deb xx
