A little while ago I made this video showing how I insert hidden strap connectors into my handmade hangbags, using D ring connectors from my website.
Using hidden connectors to attach your bag straps gives your handmade creations a touch of class and style, you can add rivets to give an extra detail and added security. I have previously made a blog post on using double cap rivets in your bag making projects so if you are wanting to add rivets to your hidden strap connectors.
Points to note when attaching hidden connectors.
Reinforce the area you are attaching your hidden strap connectors too with decovil light, this will give extra strength and stability and give a longer lasting connector.
Think about the size of the hidden connector you are attaching, don't make the opening too big or too small as this will weaken the hidden connector.
If the material you are using as the strap has stretch or isnt very strong think about using interfacing or stabilisers to give extra strength. If using decovil light only use down the centre of the strap cut to the finish width of the strap you are using in the hidden strap connector.
Follow all the steps as laid out in the video and you will be wanting to use hidden strap connectors in all your handmade handbags and you will doing them like a pro in no time.
